Richard Wright won the Turner Prize in 2009 with his gold leaf paintings. He applies the gold leaf to the gallery walls. From Glasgow, he is the oldest winner of the Turner Prize, at 49. The jury said they 'admired the profound originality and beauty of Wright's work.'
